アンジーは本当はアンジーという名前ではありません。 昔 愛称で「アンジュ」 (フランス語で「天使」)と呼ばれていたのが手違いでなまってアンジーになった のです。

Angie is not Angie's real name. Long ago, lovers used to call each other "Anje" (French for "Angel"), but by some mistake this became Angie's name.

それでもアンジーはANGIE(アンジー)の"A"はANGEL(天使)の"A"だと言います。そ して中間3人はそっぼを向くのです。

So it is said that the A in ANGIE is the A in ANGEL. And his three friends look the other way.

アンジーはハンサムなのが自慢です。アンジーは手先が器用なのが自慢です。

Angie is proud that he is handsome. He is also proud of his skillful hands.

ソしてアンジー料理上手が自慢です。

And Angie is proud that he cooks well.

A: まだだ！ この野郎 まだ おあずけ！

Not yet! Don't take that yet, you brat!

A: 食事前におやつなんか食うな！！

What are you eating before dinner!!

M: グレアム グレアム アンジーが意地悪するんだよ！！ う~~~~~~

Graham! Graham! Angie is being mean!! Waaaah

G: でもアンジーがせっせと夕食作ってるわきで二人が悪いよ！

But you two are being bad while Angie is trying to make dinner!

That's right! You two are bad! I'm fed up with you wide-eyed brats!!

G: アンジー. . .

Angie. . .

G: ひとこと多い！

You said too much!

(M: ヒクス~~)

サーニンもマックスもいつもいつもアンジーの口に傷つけられているのです。

Both Sarnin and Max are always, always deeply hurt by Angie's mouth.

S: やるぞ！ マックス

Let's do it, Max!

M: うん！

Right!

意地悪！

Meanie!

冷血漢！

Cold-blooded!

ヒステリ！

Hysterical!

三角目！！

アンジーのモットーは "目には目を歯には歯を" なのですが天使がそれをモットー にしているとは聞いたことがありません。

Angie's motto is "An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth", but I haven't heard of any angels that abide by that motto.

G: 知~~らないよ 知らないよ！ ア~~ンジーが泣アかせた！

I don't kno~~ow! I don't know! Angie made them cry!

A: フン！

Sigh!

S: あんまりだ！！ あんな奴ともう一緒にいれない！！

That's it!! I'm not going to stay with that jerk anymore!!

M: ウッ . . .ウ~~~~ ボクをハツ裂きにして焼き殺したア . . . . . . . . .

U, Uwaaaah He tore me up and then burned me to death. . . .

Old Lady: まあ ニャンコちゃん！

Ahh, Nyanko-chan!

Old Lady: 私のニャンコちゃんに泥水かけたの誰なの？

Who splashed my Nyanko-chan with that dirty water?

A: あいつら！ せっかくのシチューが冷めちまう. . . . .

Those kids! The stew I worked so hard to make is getting cold. . . .

G: アンジーがひどいこと言うからさ！

It's because you said such mean things!

G: 探しに行くならシチューの見張りはしててやろよ

I'll watch the stew while you go look for them.

A: おーい！ デコ助！ギョロ目 メシだぞ~~~~~ オレの作ったメシが食えねエってのか！

Heeey! You brats! Dinner is ready~~~~~ You can come eat the dinner I made!

アンジーはめったなことじゃ 「ごめんね」 などとは言いません

Angie rarely says "I'm sorry".

Old Lady: ペラペラ クドクド グダグダ さあ 何とかおっしゃい！！

Nag nag yakity smakity and so on and so forth. . .. Now, what do you have to say for yourselves!!

M: ゴメンナサイ. . . .

I'm sorry. . . .

S: < censored >

A: いた！ てめえら なにしてんだ？

There you are! What are you twerps doing?

S:アンジー

Angie!

A: ふ~ん

Hmm.

A: おまえ達 帰ってメシ食ってろよ！

You go home and eat dinner!

S: でも アンジー. . . . .

But Angie . . . .

A: いいから帰れよ こんなボケ猫よりシチューがさめちまう！！

Don't worry about it, just go! Because of this senile old cat-woman the stew is getting cold!!

A: アハン！

Ahem!

待っても待っても アンジーは帰ってきません

They wait and wait, but Angie doesn't return.

G: 先にお食べよ

Go ahead and eat.

M: うん. . .

Okay. . .

S: アンジーが帰ってから. . . .

Since Angie hasn't come home. . .

それでもアンジー帰って来ません

Still, Angie doesn't return.

Angie!

G: アンジー

Angie!

G: アハ

Aha!

G: 一人で立てる？ 大丈夫かい？

Can you stand up by yourself? Are you okay?

A: フン

Humph.

A: 星がきれいだからこうしてると見やすいんだ！

Since the stars are so pretty, I just thought I'd lie here and look at them!

アンジーは意地つ張りで強がりで天邪鬼です

Angie is stubborn, puts on a strong front, and is contrary.

G: ウソつけ！

Liar!

A: あ！ 金星だ

Ah! It's Venus!

G: ねエ. . . .どうして？ アンジー

Say Angie. . . .Why?

G: いつもサーニン達をいじめてるくせに

You always bully Sarnin and Max

G: ずい分とかばうじゃないか. . . .

But don't you go to extremes to protect them?

A: あいつらオレのもンだ

Those kids are mine.

A: だからオレがいじめえる分にはかまわないんだ

So it's no big deal when I pick on them.

A: けど他の奴らなんかにゃ勝手にはいじめさせねエ！

But I'm not going to let some OTHER jerk push them around!

A: 2匹をいじめてもいいのはオレと

The only one who's allowed to do that is me.

A: せいぜい おまえくらいだ！

And you, at the most!

A: なんだ！ グレアムペンギン

What the. .! Graham-penguin!

アンジーはアンジーの A は エンジェルの A だと言います。 そして仲間3人は たまにはにが笑い程度で我慢してやるのです。

It is said that the A in Angie is the A in Angel. And his three friends put up with him with an occasional wry smile.

Note from Jennifer:

This is one of my favorite short stories that I've read so far. In fact, if you have any younger sisters or brothers, you probably understand EXACTLY what Angie was saying at the end of this story. ^_^

The scene in this story, when Angie get his "revenge" on Max and Sarnin, has no real word balloons, but the pictures are absolutely PERFECT. Angie can be truly evil. I love it.
